SARPL 3-Man Event 7
Playing in the rain is universally hated by almost every player and that is exactly what the forecast was promising for the weekend of the 7th event of the 2012 SARPL 3-man season.
Saturday morning saw seven Div-5 teams take to the field to compete against each other at Nova Paintball Field. The prelim games started and teams were looking motivated, despite the cold overcast weather that greeted the day.
At the end of the prelim games, Body Snatchers, Cheyne Angels, Shogunate and S.Y.D made it into the semi-finals.
First up in the semi-finals was Cheyne Angels against S.Y.D, Cheyne Angels lost the first point, but came back swinging as they took the next two points and a spot in the finals. Next up was Body Snatchers against Shogunate and after a tense 1 on 1 battle in the first point, Shogunate took the point, but they could not get that second point as Body Snatchers came back to take two points in a row which gave them a shot at that all important first place on the podium.
This meant that Body Snatchers would take on Cheyne Angels in the finals, leaving Shogunate and S.Y.D to battle it out for that last spot on the podium.
After some great games, the final standings for the SARPL 3-man Event 7 Div-5 are as follows:
1st Cheyne Angels
2nd Body Snatchers
3rd S.Y.D
4th Shogunate
A major storm rolled in on Saturday night and there were fears that it would cause havoc for game day on Sunday, but the weather turned out perfect for paintball.
16 teams in two divisions (Div-3 and Div-4) arrived at Nova on Sunday morning and had come to stake their claim and hopefully take those all important first places. The prelim games ran almost two hours faster than those of the last few months as the weather was finally playing along, which lead to less timeouts and delays.
After the prelim games Mayhem and M.E.S were the top seeding teams in Div-4 and moved straight into the semi-finals. While Battle Bros, Brutal Affliction, FreeRunners 1 and Mechanix had to battle it out in the quarter-finals for their chance in the semis.
Mean while in Div-3 prelim games, All Stars went straight into the finals, leaving FML and Reaper Kidz to fight for that all important spot against All Stars.
Back at Div-4, Brutal Affliction played their quarter-finals game against Mechanix and took the win and their spot in the semis, while Battle Bros took on FreeRunners 1, but lost out against them as FreeRunners 1 snatched up the last spot in the semi-finals.
In the Div-4 semi-finals, Brutal Affliction went head to head against Mayhem and after some intense games, it was Mayhem who came out victorious. FreeRunners 1 then took on M.E.S for that all important spot in the finals, but M.E.S couldn’t get their game together and FreeRunners 1 took the semi-finals game and that second spot in the finals.
Then came the Div-3 semi-final games, which saw FML take on Reaper Kidz for their place in the finals against All Stars. But experience once again triumphed over youthful speed, as FML secured their spot in the finals, thanks to some great moves by Andrew Li.
In Div-4, Brutal Afflication that took on M.E.S for 3rd and 4th place, but M.E.S proved they wanted that last podium spot more and took the game with some intense play.
Then it was time for the Div-4 finals, with FreeRunners 1 taking on Mayhem, but experience and a great game play paid off for the boys of FreeRunners 1 as they took another first place for 2012.
The day was finished off with the Div-3 finals, which saw All Stars take on FML and after the first two games they were tied with a point each, but the old guys on All Stars played a great game and took the last point and the gold for the 7th event of 2012.
Finals Standings:
D4
1st FreeRunners 1
2nd Mayhem
3rd M.E.S
4th Brutal Affliction
